But does this theory apply as well to the construction of a new RV Park? We offer a more realistic assessment Over the years we’ve had a continuing flow of inquiries from persons who were contemplating building an RV park. They had invariably found us through the “Park Owners” Section of this website. In many cases they had done considerable research here, reviewing our RVer survey information and a large number of articles that deal with RVer preferences. We have consistently replied that we’re not in the business of providing a consulting service to aspiring park owners, although we think in almost every case seeking professional guidance at the outset is extremely important.
Where we’ve been able to provide information or opinion based on our own extensive RV travel experiences, or through exposure to tens of thousands of relevant RVer emails, we’ve done so. What we’ve not done, however, is to provide a set of general guidelines for those considering owning or building an RV park. The purpose of this article is to set forth some of the considerations we believe are essential to an analysis of whether building or buying an RV park makes good financial sense; and if so, to identify some of the basic elements of layout and design necessary for a successful project.
We will limit our comments to RV parks whose primary clientele is the traveling RVer interested in a quality RVing experience. We do not express any opinions on campgrounds primarily serving the needs of tent campers, or RV parks that are predominently serving the needs of “permanent” residents.

We drove miles to pick it up. There was a major rain storm during our walk through, which was on a Saturday. The only major thing we found was that the bedroom was not laid out as we ordered. We refused the unit. The saleman was able to make arrangements for us to take the unit to the Keystone factory on Monday morning for correction of the problem. We accepted the unit. Since we had overnighted a the factory, factory techs repaired the slide, and 2 more brackets that were about to break.
We brought up other problems we had found, but were told that these were a dealer problem. While the bedroom problem was being corrected, we were given a tour of the assembly process. The factory rep continually touted the excellent workmanship and quality. By the time we had traveled the miles home with the unit, the interior was falling apart.

This park is along the freeway, so noise is an issue. It’s very clean and it has a very nice pool though a little small. The big problem here is the format of the campsites. They are arranged in a kind of plus sign pattern. It’s an intriguing design which I think could work well for a crowded urban RV resort.
Unfortunately, the limits of each site aren’t well marked. So, you can’t really be sure of where your site ends and the adjacent one begins. I apparently parked my trailer over the line into an adjoining site. I found out, after I was set up, that I was over the line from one of the employees. My neighbor didn’t complain, but I felt guilty. Would it be too difficult to paint lines on the blacktop?
Is it too difficult for the check-in staff to make each customer aware of the limits? If you camp at the San Diego RV Resort, I suggest asking about limits and ask for a site as far from the freeway as possible.

But I am really sold on Dynamax Class 3 products, one reason being this great forum. However, everyone says floorplan is the 1 thing in your choice of an RV. Well, I have looked at about everything, I thought, over the last year or so. Tons and tons of internal storage like no other, as well as outside storage galore for such a small RV.
Plus the floor plan was perfect with two nice size twin beds that make a king in the rear, entertainment center in front, very small love seat in front across from standard size kitchen area for a small coach.

Sep 11, Liz Tomas Liz Tomas began writing professionally in She is pursuing her Ph. Campground in California The main difference between private and public campgrounds are that private facilities are owned by individuals, not the state or government. There are some excellent private campgrounds and then there are ones to avoid. Most private ventures are for RVs as they offer complete hook-ups.
Very few private campgrounds will provide tent sites and none provide very primitive camping. A little bit of time and effort is needed to find the best private campgrounds. We have never visited a recreational park that more closely resembles a trailer park than Camp Pendleton’s Lake O’Neill Recreation Park. This park in no way passes for a recreational vehicle park. It is mainly a permanent personnel residence with little to offer visitors. There are few full hookups, so reservations for a site with sewer must be made long in advance.
We had reservations for a full hookup site the third week of our stay; however, a double booking error left us in our less than desirable site. Our assigned back-in site was made even less desirable because it was 10 ft too small to contain our 40 ft motorhome. A curb at the back of the motorhome forced us to park at an angle in the diagonal parking space. A knowledgeable scheduler would have assigned us a site without such an elevated curb. It was disclosed that when reservations are made the individuals making the reservation are allowed to choose their own RV space.
